Today starts our Teach Me Tuesdays Holiday Edition! I will be featuring different gifts you can easily make at home and add some handmade love to your gift giving this holiday season.
Body products are always a popular gift to give for a holiday gift especially for the person who has everything. The brown sugar and sea salt body scrub has always been a popular item at my craft shows because they are all natural and great for the dry, winter season. Here I am going to teach you how to make your own scrubs at home from ingredients you have at home.
Coarse Sea Salt
Essential Oil (optional)
4 oz. Jar with tight lid
Depending on how many you want to make will depend on how much you will need in ingredients. I typically make mine in batches and give them away to a group of my female friends and family.
For a jar, you can use a mason jar but that can get a bit pricey if you need to make multiple scrubs. I like the white 4 ounce plastic containers because they are a better price on Amazon and they keep the scrubs moist a lot longer then the mason jars. You can find the white plastic jars here: White Plastic Jar with Dome Lid 4 Oz – 12 Per Bag
In a bowl mix together 2 cups of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1/4 cup of olive oil per 4 oz jar. Mix really well so that all of the ingredients are evenly distributed through the scrub. If you know that someone doesn’t like fragrances or has a reaction then you keep the scrub just as it is. I like to add a few drops of essential oil to my scrubs to give a nice scent and enhance the shower experience plus essential oils have so many benefits for the body and skin. Next, you pack the scrub into the jar. Last, you can make cute tags with what the scrub is and the ingredients (always better to be safe then sorry to let people know what is in it).
Now you have a cute, useable gift to give someone this holiday season! I hope you enjoy and make lots of these scrubs for friends and family.
It is that time of year where our skin begins to dry out, crack and just hurt no matter how much we drink water and try different lotions from your local store. Having a child with severe eczema, I had to experiment with different lotions and soaps to try and find some kind of relief for her, especially in the winter. Even the products labeled especially for eczema didn’t work for her.
So I began to make my own products for her so I knew exactly what was going in the products and on her skin. I came up with a formula for a hardened lotion made from coconut oil, olive oil, pure beeswax (not the candle stuff with additives for candle burning) and a few drops of essential oil. This formula has been magic for Danyella’s skin for many years now because it creates a barrier layer with the beeswax to protect it from further damage while healing the skin problems with the coconut oil and olive oil.
As friends and family, began to see her skin go from bleeding eczema patches to beautiful clear skin, they began to ask for their own Lotion Pop in different essential oil scents. I use a mold that is for cake pops but it makes it so much easier to glide the lotion pops across the skin with this design.
Right now I offer Lotion Pops in my online store Kaella Boutique in Lavender, Orange and Peppermint. The pops are 3 ozs each and come in a cute little box for storage. They also make great small gifts for people on your list this Holiday Season. How many of you suffer from Dry Skin?

With the holidays coming and the other part of my business life being my handmade business, I decided to make Wednesdays my day to feature different creations from my online boutique. My goal is to help people find gifts that could work for someone they are shopping for or inspire them to create a version of their own.
One of my most common request from a customer is something baby related but women are always having babies and will be having babies. Before I was pregnant, I began crocheting (yes I am a hooker) a variety of baby items because they sell so fast with people looking for something cute, soft and unique to give as a gift to a new mama. I came across a crochet lovey and was inspired to make different animal theme loveys. Some of these have been special requests that I made an extra for my shop which some of my best-selling creations came as a request from a customer!
Since being pregnant, I have been inspired to make other baby loveys so I have some other ones in the works which I can’t wait to debut. If you are interested in purchasing a lovey feel free to browse my online boutique Kaella Boutique or please feel free to pass this along to someone who might be interested in a unique gift.
As an artist/artisan, I have learned that nothing is truly our own creation but an idea that came before us and we just worked it to fit into our imagination. If you look at most art, those works are a form of someone else’s idea that the artist tweaked or revamped to make it their own. So please feel free to be inspired by my creations!
Be on the look out on Wednesdays, as I will be featuring different products that make great gifts from my online boutique, Kaella Boutique, that can help in giving a loved one, friend or boss a unique, handmade present.
I am not one who loves surprises (yes I used to find all the christmas presents before
Christmas!) but receiving an email on my birthday that I was gifted the Bump Box! Say what?? In my baby moms group, other moms have talked about receiving the Bump Box as a gift or purchasing the Bump Box to pamper themselves during their pregnancy. The idea of the Bump Box was awesome but out of our budget especially now that I am on bed rest but now I get to be part the of the Bump Box club!
So what is the Bump Box? It is a monthly subscription that someone pays $39.99 a month to send themselves or a pregnant loved one a box of treats for a mommy to be. According to their website, they tailor each monthly box according to your due date so the pregnant woman receives items that will help them through whatever trimester they are currently in. Since I am 19 weeks today, I am in my second trimester and would receive 4-8 full size products to enjoy for the month of August. Another perk with Bump Boxes, is that with every purchase of the box (even if it’s a gift) plus a product review earns you points to discount when you purchase a reorder of a product from a box!
What did I receive for August?? I swear it is like the company knew
exactly what I have been going through lately because I received a pack of argon oil face clothes (this will hopefully help with the horrible acne on my face), a bottle of pregnancy safe probiotic (to hopefully help with my IBS that has been attacking at least once a week), bath salts (this is controversal to me because I have been told that bath salts, oils and bubble bath were a no no during pregnancy), and a bottle of belly oil to help with stretch marks ( I am on the fence of whether I will be trying this or not since I have been making my own body products for so long that I prefer my own stuff to everything else). Lastly, I received an adorable picture frame to put one of Evelynne’s ultrasound pictures in. The frame is so adorable and says Love At First Sight.
Overall, the box is super adorable and I look forward to receiving my next one in September. To the person that gave me the special gift…. Thank you!
